DISNEY’S MAGIC WRIST BRACELET

The Disney folks are launching a new series of technology improvements to enhance guest experiences. The initiative is known as MyMagic+. The program, which will first be introduced at Walt Disney World in Orlando will include a new website and dedicated apps. But the innovative part of this is the radio-frequency technology that comes embedded in a MagicBand bracelet.

The wristband will enable guests in the park to purchase rides, buy food and gifts, unlock their Disney hotel room door, make electronic choices within the park simply by waving their wrists. Of course, also embedded is a bit of guest information which one must assume Disney will manage to tabulate to get a real fix on exactly what its clients are doing witht heir time in the parks. This will, we are certain, result in more focused Disney ads and promotions that can be truly personalized for each family that visits its parks.

Don’t be surprised if this technology, in the form of wristbands, shows up on some of the larger cruise liners. It will make for a totally “cashless” on board society while carefully monitoring guest time aboard ship.
