Paraiso de la Bonita

have been inspecting and evaluating Spas and hotels worldwide for more than twenty years, and I am not in the habit of shedding tears on departure day. But it happened last week at a small luxury resort along the Mayan Rivera twenty minutes south of the sprawling mass market of Cancun. If you are simply in the market for R and R, you have come to the right place.

Paraiso de la Bonita was built a couple of years ago by architect Carlos Gosselin for his wife, the beautiful one! There is a sense of complete relaxation here. Your days can be spent unstructured while you let your troubles drift away! When you first arrive enter the gates you are greeted by a lovely gentleman who welcomes you. The open air marbled corridors are lined with beautiful sculptors and antiques. Peacocks, Mayan turkeys and Iguanas walk around as if they are guests. The infinity pool is surrounded by lush gardens and Balinese style chaise lounge. Hippos bar overlooks the pool making this very convenient location for everyone.

The feeling of gracious hospitality is enhanced at this small intimate spa, where highly trained authentic trained staff members can help you select from an abundance of pampering services, massages of all types, wraps, aromatherapy and facials. The Thalasso Spa, the very first treatment center in Mexico, offers a variety of treatments. Thalassotherapy comes from the Greek meaning “cure by Seawater”. Traditional French procedures consist of seaweed & algae wraps. The Thalsso pool has grand jets to help with poor circulation, cellulite, depression, exhaustion, etc.
