Q – We are looking forward to our Tauck adventure with you folks in June to Iceland. Any predictions as to how this whole documentation thing will be handled? Will we be required to take the vaccine – we are thinking we may not trust it.
A – They are smart rational humans up in Iceland. If you do not want to be vaccinated for Covid it is likely they will not allow you to leave the customs area at Reykjavik Airport.
This documentation process is something we have been watching carefully as it is essential to a smooth resumption of overseas travel. We are not seeing any substantive proposals from our government at this time (December 2020) which is frustrating industry executives. There are two European documentation models, Commonpass and the IATA Travel Pass which seem to be the most likely candidates to be adopted by the EU and then other countries.
There are a few sticky points, one of which is trying to prove that a vaccinated person cannot still be a carrier.
